Leadership Los Alamos Health & Wellbeing Session Review

LLA News:

Leadership Los Alamos (LLA) held its Health & Wellbeing session March 28 at the Los Alamos Little Theatre. The engaging event aimed to foster leadership skills and promote community awareness among participants.

The session began with a warm welcome from LLA Board Members, followed by a short breathing exercise designed to center the participants and prepare them for the day ahead. Judith Gordon led the group through their third Leadership Development meeting, where students explored essential leadership principles and practices.

Following the Leadership Development segment, Director of the Los Alamos Social Services Department Jessica Strong, addressed the students. She provided insight into the various services offered by the county, allowing participants to ask questions and gain a deeper understanding of community resources.

After a guided tour of the Los Alamos Little Theatre, students had lunch before continuing their day with a visit to Mesa Public Library. There, they participated in a session on QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) emergency intervention techniques for suicide prevention, presented by QPR instructor Michelangelo Lobato. This crucial training focused on equipping students with the skills to assist those in crisis effectively.

The afternoon concluded with an informative overview of Occupational Therapy led by occupational therapist Meg Lobato, who shared how her work positively impacts the Los Alamos community.

The next Leadership Los Alamos session, focusing on Economic Development, will be conducted by Los Alamos Commerce and Development Corporation Director Lauren McDaniel. This upcoming session promises to provide valuable insights into the economic landscape of our community.
